One Prevention Alliance is a COMMUNITY coalition, it takes the community to function at full capacity.  February seemed like a great month to mention some of the recent LOVE we have felt from our community! YOUTH PREVENTION and PARENTING CLASS SPONSORSHIP  One Prevention Alliance is funded by two grants; however, there are certain items that cannot be purchased from either fund!  Amerigroup stepped in to fill the gap!  With their generous sponsorship, we are now able to reduce barriers (food, gasoline, activities for childcare) so that all can access our programs. Students at Wind River Middle School start a health-focused club

Wind River Middle School’s Healthy Student Club is the newest club in the Stevenson-Carson School District. This student-led club’s first goal they identified focuses on raising mental health awareness and reducing the related stigma on campus through peer-led activities and education. How did the club begin? One Prevention Alliance Community Coalition’s primary goal is to provide our youth information and opportunities to help them make healthy decisions as they learn, grow, and navigate their world. Early prevention, education, and intervention is essential in achieving this goal. Since our high school students have successfully addressed these same issues through their club, […]

PAWS Club elementary students enjoy lessons from local volunteers

The PAWS Club currently has 20 members, and most are students from Carson Elementary School (CES), located in Skamania County. Two club members are part of local homeschool programs. At each meeting, students enjoy free-choice time, such as building with Legos, painting, or modeling with playdough. Each meeting also […]

STAND UP 4 TEENS

Did you know that there is a substance use prevention club at Stevenson High School? Stand Up 4 Teens (SU4T) is a youth-run coalition with support from advisors Riley Hershberger and Phoebe Jud. The club meets twice a month at lunchtime so that they can discuss ways to support their peers and spread the word about the dangers of substance use. When asked why they decided to get involved with SU4T, one student shared “it’s important to have substance use prevention at school from other students”. Providing peer to peer prevention programs is the group’s primary mission in an effort […]
