It is February and OPA is FEELING THE LOVE!
One Prevention Alliance is a COMMUNITY coalition, it takes the community to function at full capacity. February seemed like a great month to mention some of the recent LOVE we have felt from our community!
YOUTH PREVENTION and PARENTING CLASS SPONSORSHIP One Prevention Alliance is funded by two grants; however, there are certain items that cannot be purchased from either fund! Amerigroup stepped in to fill the gap! With their generous sponsorship, we are now able to reduce barriers (food, gasoline, activities for childcare) so that all can access our programs.
More Information about Amerigroup: Creating Healthier Lives, Together. At Amerigroup, we’re dedicated to providing you with world-class care and improving the health of our communities. Amerigroup offers benefits to kids, families and adults through Washington Apple Health (Medicaid). Here for you – here for your loved ones. https://www.chooseamerigroup.com/wa
VOLUNTEER SEAMSTRESS WORK Art is often used to engage youth. Markers, pencils, crayons, paintbrushes, and more travel with One Prevention Alliance between schools and events. Our volunteer seamstresses created AMAZING drawstring bags to help with organization of these supplies. Thank you tp Merce Hamlin, Shelley Richardson, Dorothy Sundberg, and Kathy McKenzie for using their talent for the coalition!
iQ READ WITH ME GRANT One Prevention Alliance partners with many on a program called, “Learn and Play”. This monthly event provides a story time, craft project, and parenting ideas to families and caregivers with children from birth to age 5. This program received $100 worth of free books from iQ Credit union to distribute to those families. OPA is involved with “Learn and Play” because it provides a venue to share different prevention strategies with parents of our youngest learners. Thanks, iQ Credit Union!
MAKE A PLAN, GET HOME SAFE is an educational campaign that One Prevention Alliance shares at local events that serve alcoholic beverages. With the support of City of Stevenson lodging taxes, One Prevention Alliance will be able to bring FAMILY FUN to the Stevenson Waterfront Music Festival, while promoting “Make a Plan, Get Home Safe”.
AMAZON WISH LIST One Prevention Alliance received many donations from ordinary local folks, much like yourself, by simply making a purchase off of our Amazon Wish List. We are so grateful for the MANY who support our youth by supporting this coalition!
FEBRUARY . . . we feel the love!
